Dr. Rudi von Arnim is a Professor of Economics at the University of Utah, where he has been affiliated since 2009, progressing from Assistant to Associate to Full Professor. He also serves as Associate Dean for Student Success and Academic Affairs and is a Senior Research Associate at the Austrian Foundation for Development Research (OeFSE) since 2016. His research bridges macroeconomic theory, economic development, and structural heterogeneity, with applications to policy analysis and international trade.
Research interests span macroeconomic theory (especially the links between growth, business cycles, and income distribution), economic development, and structural heterogeneity. His work has been supported by grants from the University of Utah and collaborative projects with institutions like G24, UNDP, UNCTAD, and the ILO's Institute for International Labour Studies.
Publication trends demonstrate a focus on distributive cycles (Goodwin-type dynamics), investment behavior (residential vs. nonresidential), and structural change impacts on inequality and stagnation. His empirical work often employs structural VAR models, wavelet decomposition, and frequency domain analysis.
Teaching activities include graduate and undergraduate courses in Macroeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics, alongside independent study supervision for PhD candidates.
