Prof. Rudi te Velde is a Professor at the Tilburg School of Catholic Theology, Tilburg University. His research focuses on classical metaphysics, particularly the works of Thomas Aquinas, addressing modern philosophy’s loss of metaphysical inquiry. He also explores the meaning of religion in secularized societies. Key research interests include metaphysics, medieval philosophy, and theology, with emphasis on Aquinas’ doctrines of being, creation, and divine attributes.
Te Velde has authored over 130 publications, including articles, books, and edited volumes. His recent works analyze Aquinas’ views on divine simplicity, personhood, and moral theology, alongside critiques of transhumanism. He actively engages in academic discourse through invited lectures and presentations on topics such as Thomistic personalism and theological ethics.
He has supervised two academic works and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on theology, philosophy, and modernity. His research bridges historical metaphysics with contemporary ethical and theological challenges, advocating for the relevance of Thomistic thought in understanding human existence and divine action.
