Rudi Reichenbaecher

Rudi Reichenbaecher serves as a Research Associate within the Fiber-Engineering department at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, operating under the Polymer Materials Engineering division. His work bridges both Fiber-Engineering and Bio-Engineering research groups, contributing to the institute's focus on advanced polymer materials and their applications.

His research interests center on fiber reinforced polymer composite materials, with particular expertise in composites processing and characterization. He specializes in sizing development and application for both commercial and newly developed glass fibers, and works extensively with biobased film formers and polymers for sizings and matrices. His methodological approach includes characterization of fiber surfaces and interfacial properties through mechanical methods and structural analysis techniques.

Reichenbaecher is actively involved in two significant projects: bioLEIV (Bioinspired lightweight construction with adjustable degradable fiber-plastic composites) and ML4Sim (Machine Learning for Simulation Intelligence in Composite Process Design). These projects reflect his dual focus on sustainable materials development and computational approaches to composite engineering.

As part of the Fiber Engineering department led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Chr. Scheffler, Reichenbaecher contributes to the institute's mission of developing tailored polymer materials with emphasis on structure-property relationships and sustainability. His work supports the broader research goals of the Polymer Materials Engineering division, which focuses on discovering structure-property relations including chemical and physical built-up, as well as phase morphology of polymer materials.
