Prof Rudi Fortson is an Honorary Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Liverpool's School of Law and Social Justice, part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He also holds a Visiting Professorship at Queen Mary University of London. A seasoned barrister since 1976 (taking silk in 2010), his expertise spans serious crime, including fraud, drug trafficking, asset recovery, and money laundering. He has authored seminal works such as Misuse of Drugs and Drug Trafficking Offences and The Serious Crime Act 2007.
His research focuses on criminal law principles, drugs policy, weapons legislation, and AI's role in security. Notable collaborations include work with The Loop, DrugScience, and the Law Commission on projects like firearms regulation and anti-money laundering strategies. He is a member of key organizations including the Criminal Bar Association and the Forensic Science Society.
