Alberto Ruda Gonzalez is an Associate Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Girona, where he also earned his doctorate with European mention. He currently serves as Vice-Dean and previously held the position of Dean from 2016 to 2024. He is affiliated with the Institute of European and Comparative Private Law and leads the European Private Law Research Group.
His research focuses on Civil Liability, Contract Law, and European Private Law. He has contributed extensively to legal harmonization and comparative studies, particularly within the European context. His work bridges academic scholarship with policy development, especially in civil law reform in Catalonia.
His scholarly output shows a consistent focus on European legal integration, tort law, and civil liability frameworks. He has coordinated major publications on European jurisprudence and contributed to foundational projects like the Principles of European Civil Liability Law.

Advising and Grants: He has co-led national research projects funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and is currently involved in the PID2019-104067RB-100 project on European Civil Liability Principles. He has coordinated the Network of Interest on Cooperative Learning (2009–2013) and is active in the Network on SDGs in Teaching. He has supervised multiple research initiatives and academic collaborations.
Labs and Teams: He is a founding member and chair of the Spanish Hub of the European Law Institute and co-chairs the Special Interest Group on Global Private Law. He is part of the Research Group 'Grup de Dret Privat Comparat: Fonaments i Anàlisi' (GRC 2017SGR0061). He also collaborates with international institutions including ECTIL (Vienna), UCALL (Utrecht), and the Séminaire conjoint de Droit Civil (Paris-Louvain).
