Dr. Rubrick Biegon is a Lecturer in International Relations and Senior Tutor at the University of Kent's School of Politics and International Relations, based at Keynes College. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Minnesota and an MA in International Politics from American University's School of International Service. His research focuses on US power dynamics, including political violence, counterterrorism, remote warfare, and US-Latin American relations.
Biegon teaches undergraduate modules such as States and the World and Foreign Policy: Systems, States, and Leaders, as well as postgraduate courses like Security in a Changing World. He supervises PhD students in areas including US foreign policy, remote warfare, and populism in foreign policy. Current advisees include Marwa Wasfy (co-supervised), Louise Tiessen (second supervision), and Juan Restrepo Velez (first supervision).
His research outputs include the book US Power in Latin America: Renewing Hegemony (2017) and co-authored works on the US War on Terror and remote warfare. He edits Global Society, an interdisciplinary journal, and contributes to policy analysis via outlets like The Conversation. Biegon is affiliated with professional bodies such as the ISA, BISA, and British Association for American Studies.
