His research and creative work centers on identity, sexuality, loss, and personal transformation, particularly through the lens of being a gay Latinx man. Quesada's poetry delves unflinchingly into experiences of HIV diagnosis, cultural heritage, and complex family relationships. His work often explores the intersection of personal narrative with broader social and historical contexts, including references to Greek mythology, visual art, and cultural history.
Quesada's publications form a cohesive exploration of identity and vulnerability, with recent works focusing explicitly on his HIV diagnosis and its implications for understanding mortality and intimacy. His collections demonstrate evolving thematic concerns while maintaining lyrical intensity and vivid imagery that characterize his distinctive voice in contemporary poetry.
