Felicia Zamora is an Associate Professor of Poetry at the University of Cincinnati's Department of English within the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a renowned poet, educator, and editor for the Colorado Review. Her work focuses on poetry that explores themes of identity, social justice, and environmental consciousness. Zamora holds an MFA in Poetry from Colorado State University and a BA in Communication Studies from Iowa State University.
Her research interests include innovative poetic forms, the intersection of poetry with social activism, and the role of creative writing in fostering community dialogue. She has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the 2022 Loraine Williams Poetry Prize and the Ohioana Book Award in Poetry.
Zamora teaches courses like Creative Writing and Social Change and Innovative Forms, emphasizing the transformative power of literature. She has received grants including the Ohio Pre-trail and Racial Justice Grant (2021) and the William C. Boyce Award for Teaching Excellence (2021). Her poetry has been published in major journals such as Poetry Magazine, The Kenyon Review, and AGNI.
Zamora’s creative output includes seven full-length poetry collections and two chapbooks, with recent works addressing contemporary issues through evocative imagery and structural experimentation. She actively participates in literary residencies and fellowships, including those from CantoMundo and the Ragdale Foundation.
