معرفی
Ruben Gomez Sanchez is a researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen, part of the Protein Homeostasis (PH) group. His work focuses on autophagy mechanisms, membrane dynamics, and neurodegenerative disorders. He holds a PhD in Biomedicine (2013) and a BSc in Biochemistry (2009).
His research interests include autophagy regulation, membrane trafficking, and protein homeostasis, with applications to neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's. Key areas of exploration involve the role of Atg proteins, lipid droplet motility, and autophagosome biogenesis.
Recent publications highlight innovations in a-Synuclein studies and Atg9 interactions, alongside algorithm development for microscopy analysis (PunctaFinder). His work has been cited over 150 times in peer-reviewed journals.
- Recipient of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowship (2015)
- Awarded the Extraordinary Prize of Doctorate in Biomedicine (2013)
He actively supervises PhD students and participates in academic activities such as the 3rd International Online Conference on Cells (2025) and the EMBO Autophagy Workshop (2024).
