Ruben Comadina Granson is a Senior Lecturer in English and Academic Skills at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Arts. He is part of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team within the Centre of Learning and Teaching at the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Language Centre at the Faculty of Arts. His roles include coordinating and lecturing in programs such as the Global and Intercultural Engagement Distinction, Legal and Academic Skills, and Publishing in English.
His research interests focus on intercultural competence, teaching in multicultural settings, bilingual education, and academic skills development. He specializes in designing blended-learning courses and fostering intercultural sensitivity through workshops and assessments using tools like the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES).
Key projects include co-leading the IMPACT project at Masaryk University, enhancing English education at Universidade Católica de Moçambique, and contributing to the Taal Vaardig and INTUIT initiatives. These projects aimed to improve language proficiency and intercultural training in academic and professional contexts.
Ruben has also held leadership roles, including Head of Foreign Modern Languages (MFL) at the Language Centre, where he managed staff, developed curricula, and supervised teacher training programs. His work emphasizes bridging educational practices with cultural awareness globally.
