Associate Professor Ruban Thanigasalam is an academic surgeon specializing in robotic urological surgery at the University of Sydney's Central Clinical School. He holds appointments at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, and multiple private hospitals. His clinical expertise includes prostate and kidney cancer, with a focus on minimally invasive and robotic techniques.
Dr. Thanigasalam completed his medical training at St George's Hospital (London) and advanced urology training in NSW, followed by a specialized robotic surgery fellowship in Paris. He leads major research initiatives, including the ROSE study and Robo-sling trial, focusing on improving surgical outcomes and quality of life for prostate cancer patients.
As an educator, he co-chairs an international robotic surgery fellowship program and teaches at the University of Sydney's Concord Clinical School. His research spans robotic innovation, image-guided surgery, and AI applications in urology.
