Roya Ayman is a Professor of Psychology at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Lewis College of Science and Letters. She holds a Ph.D. in Cross-Cultural Organizational Social Psychology from the University of Utah and is a Fellow of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the UK Leadership Trust. Her research focuses on leadership effectiveness, cross-cultural dynamics, work-family interface, and gender equity in the workplace. She has advised 35 Ph.D. and 66 Master’s students, many of whom have pursued impactful careers in academia and industry.
Dr. Ayman’s research spans global studies, including the 10-country Project 3535 examining work-family interface challenges. She has authored/co-authored influential books such as The Work-Family Interface in a Global Context (2017) and Leadership Theory and Research (1993). Her work integrates theoretical frameworks with practical consulting projects for organizations like Lucent Technologies and General Electric, addressing leadership development and workplace dynamics.
Her awards include the 2019 SIOP Fellowship and the 2012 UK Leadership Fellowship. She serves on editorial boards of journals like Leadership Quarterly and International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management. Her research emphasizes cultural sensitivity, gender equity, and organizational interventions to reduce work-family conflict.
Dr. Ayman’s contributions bridge academic rigor and practical application, fostering global collaborations and mentoring future leaders. Her work highlights the interplay between cultural contexts, leadership practices, and systemic organizational challenges.
