معرفی
Roy Planalp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of New Hampshire's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, where he leads research in medicinal and environmental inorganic chemistry. His work focuses on metal coordination chemistry (iron, copper, zinc) and redox processes, with applications in biomolecule design, cellular metabolism, environmental sensing, and nuclear medicine.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, University of California - Berkeley
- B.S. in Chemistry, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Research Focus: Dr. Planalp's group designs metal-binding ligands conjugated to fluorophores for probing cellular metal metabolism in healthy and diseased states. Key interests include:
- Development of ratiometric fluorescent sensors
- Bimetallic catalysts for environmental remediation
- Bioconjugated peptides for mitochondrial targeting
Recent Publications: His 15 most recent articles explore biomembrane interactions, polymer-based sensors, and catalytic dye degradation, with emerging themes in targeted drug delivery and environmental applications.
