Roy Catalani is an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Director of the Nonprofit Clinic at the University of Oregon School of Law. He brings extensive practical experience from a 15-year legal practice in Hawai’i, focusing on business transactions, regulatory matters, and immigration, as well as 12 years as an executive with a Hawai’i public utility.

His research and teaching emphasize legal practice in nonprofit organizations, business law, and regulatory compliance. He has served on nonprofit boards for three decades, including recent roles with the YMCA of Honolulu, the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation, and the O’ahu Economic Development Board.
Before his academic career, Catalani clerked for Chief Justice Edwin Peterson of the Oregon Supreme Court and worked in public service as a gubernatorial appointee in planning and transportation, alongside private consulting for nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
