Professor Roy Allison serves as Professor of Russian and Eurasian International Relations and Director of RESC at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA), University of Oxford, a position he assumed in 2011 after holding a Readership in International Relations at the London School of Economics. His prior roles include Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham's Centre for Russian and East European Studies (1987-1999) and Head of the Russia and Eurasia Programme at Chatham House (1993-2005).
He undertook doctoral studies at St. Antony's College, Oxford, where he subsequently held an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.
Professor Allison's research centers on the international relations, foreign and security policies of Russia and Eurasia. His work encompasses broad disciplines including International Relations and Politics, with specific expertise in Foreign Policy, Security Studies, International Law, Regionalism, Intervention, Conflict, Military Affairs, and Nationalism. He has traveled extensively throughout Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Finland for field research.
He has directed multiple research projects in the region and held a Senior Research Fellowship at Oxford University's Department of Politics and International Relations (2001-2005).
