Dr. Roxana Chicas is an Assistant Professor at Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, specializing in environmental and occupational health research for vulnerable populations. As a first-generation academic and advocate for workers' rights, she combines lived experience with scientific rigor to address health disparities in farmworker communities.

Her research focuses on climate change impacts on outdoor workers, using innovative wearable biopatches to monitor physiological responses to heat exposure. She pioneers metabolomics approaches to understand acute kidney injury mechanisms and develops evidence-based interventions for thermal regulation.
