Roxana Anghel

Roxana Anghel is a Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), affiliated with the School of Allied Health and Social Care in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care. Her work focuses on transitions from care to adulthood, social work pedagogy, and environmental justice. She leads the Social Work Research Lab (SWRL) and co-chairs the INTRAC Global Conference Committee, part of an international network addressing care leavers' challenges across 47 countries.

Research Interests:

Roxana examines discursive practices affecting policy implementation gaps for care leavers, participatory methodologies, and the integration of sustainability into social work education. She explores global-local policy translation, migration impacts, and innovative pedagogies such as decolonized teaching and experiential learning.

Grants & Partnerships:

• Project lead for INTRAC global initiatives and Croatia's deinstitutionalization projects
• Knowledge exchange collaborations with institutions in Ghana, South Africa, Germany, and Israel
• Developed 'Climate Justice and Social Inequality' and 'Contemporary and Sustainable Social Work' modules

Teaching:

Roxana teaches at undergraduate/postgraduate levels, emphasizing critical practice and experiential learning. She supervises doctoral research on topics like social work supervision and care leaver advocacy.
