Rossella Ferrari is currently Professor of Chinese Studies at the University of Vienna, Austria. Previously, she taught at SOAS University of London, UK. In 2023-2024, she served as a Visiting Professor at EASt.
Research Interests: Her work centers on contemporary performance cultures in Chinese-speaking regions, intercultural theatre practices, and the avant-garde. She explores transnational and inter-Asian dynamics in Sinophone cultural production, focusing on postsocialist contexts in China and inter-Asian performance networks.
Recent Publications & Seminars: Her recent books examine experimental theatre in China, transnational Chinese theatres in East Asia, and urban performance pathways in Hong Kong and Singapore. In April 2024, she conducted seminars on 'Virtual Materiality and Technologies of the Real in Chinese Documentary Theatre' and 'Transnational Chinese Theatres: Intercultural Performance Networks in East Asia.'
