Rossano Ivan Adorno is a Full Professor of Criminal Procedural Law (IUS/16) at the University of Salento, affiliated with both the Department of Human and Social Sciences and the Department of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Law. He currently serves as the Rector's Delegate for Human Resources and President of the Disciplinary Board of the University.
Professor Adorno earned his law degree with highest honors (110/100 cum laude) from the University of Bari in 1991 and completed his PhD in Criminal Procedure at the University of Bologna in 2000. His academic career progressed from University Researcher (2001) to Associate Professor (2005) and finally to Full Professor (2021) at the University of Salento.
His scholarly focus centers on Criminal Procedure and Criminal Enforcement Law, with particular expertise in judicial reasoning, pretrial detention periods, and cross-border criminal investigations within Europe. Professor Adorno has coordinated multiple national research projects (PRIN) examining historical perspectives of criminal justice and procedural efficiency.
As an educator, he has taught Criminal Procedure across various programs since 2001, including the Faculty of Law, School of Specialization for Legal Professions, and Master's programs. His teaching methodology incorporates interactive laboratory approaches to criminal procedure education.
Professor Adorno actively contributes to legal scholarship through editorial board memberships for prominent journals including 'Il Foro Italiano' and 'Processo penale e giustizia.' He coordinates a research group of scholars in Criminal Procedural Law and has supervised numerous degree theses throughout his career.
