Ross Jewell served at the University of Northern Iowa from 1951 to 1985. He began as an Instructor (1951–1953) and later held the rank of Assistant Professor (1954–1969) before advancing to Associate Professor (1969–1985). His roles included administrative responsibilities as Administrative Assistant for Composition from 1963 to 1968. His work spanned departments evolving from English and Speech to English Language and Literature.
