John Eiklor served as faculty at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) from 1963 to 1993. He began as an Assistant Professor of Social Science (1963–1966), then transitioned to Associate Professor of History (1966–1970), and later held the rank of Professor of History from 1970 until his final listed appointment in 1992–1993. During his tenure, he also served as Acting Director of the UNI Museum in multiple years (e.g., 1983–1984, 1985–1986, and 1987–1988). His academic roles were occasionally interrupted by Professional Development Leaves, such as during the spring semester of 1972 and 1985. Eiklor’s work spanned over three decades in UNI’s History department, contributing to both teaching and museum-related administrative roles.
