Ross Gallagher is an Instructor of Jazz Bass, Jazz Guitar, and Improvisation at the School of Performing Arts, University of Maine. He holds a background in music composition and performance, having studied at The New School in New York City under notable jazz artists such as Andrew Cyrille and Tyshawn Sorey. His professional engagements include collaborations with artists like Paula Cole, Bill McHenry, and Marc Ribot, and he actively performs his own music across the Eastern Seaboard.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Music Composition & Performance from The New School, New York City.
Research/Performance Interests: Focused on jazz improvisation, contemporary music composition, and instrumental techniques across double bass, guitar, and percussion. His work bridges traditional jazz traditions with modern experimental approaches.
Performance & Collaborations: Tours with Paula Cole and performs with prominent figures in the jazz and indie music scenes. Residencies include Brooklyn, NY and Bath, ME.
