Nate Radley is an Associate Professor in the Guitar Department at Berklee College of Music. Born in Concord, New Hampshire, he attended Berklee's Five-Week summer program during high school and has since performed globally with leading jazz and contemporary artists. He is described by the New York Times as a 'perceptive young guitarist with an introspective but assertive style' and by the New York City Jazz Record as 'one of the tastiest and most consistent players on the scene.'
Radley's artistic research spans jazz, country, blues, rock, 20th century classical composition, film/TV scoring, and folk traditions. His cross-genre collaborations—from jazz ensembles to HBO music placements—inform his pedagogical approach, which prioritizes translating musical conceptions into sound across diverse mediums including improvisation, composition, and production.
His accolades include the 2004 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award. Discographically, he has released five solo albums, contributed to over 40 recordings as a sideman, and recently launched 'Puzzle People' featuring Jay Anderson and Adam Nussbaum.
As an educator, Radley mentors students toward musical fluency and creative confidence, emphasizing personal expression whether in jazz improvisation, film scoring, or other musical pursuits. His philosophy centers on deepening students' connection to sound through joyful exploration and technical mastery.
