Rosie Higman is a PhD researcher at the University of Sheffield’s School of Information, Journalism and Communication, focusing on the role of national libraries in the Open Access landscape. Concurrently, she serves as Research Services Librarian (Data) at the University of Manchester, where she previously worked in research data management roles. Her professional background includes positions at Cambridge University Library and the University of Reading. She holds an MSc in Digital Library Management from the University of Sheffield (2014), earning the iSchool Prize for academic excellence.
Her research investigates how national libraries worldwide are adapting to Open Access mandates, examining preservation challenges, cross-national variations, and future infrastructural models. This work is supported by an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership studentship, involving collaboration with the British Library. Key themes include scholarly communication, open research practices, and library institutional roles.
Rosie’s scholarly contributions span research data management frameworks, FAIR principles, and collaborative library initiatives. She has published in Insights, Program, and the International Journal of Digital Curation, addressing topics like community-driven RDM strategies and institutional policy development.
