Rosemary Marusak

Dr. Rosemary Marusak is a board certified poultry veterinarian and Researcher at the University of Minnesota, serving as a Risk Analyst for the Secure Food Systems team. She leads cross-commodity workgroups for poultry (broiler, turkey, layer) and finfish to develop science-based risk assessments and business continuity protocols during foreign animal disease outbreaks.

Her educational background includes:

• BA/BS in Chemistry/Biology from Providence College
• PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame
• DVM from Michigan State University
• MSpVM in Poultry Health and Management from North Carolina State University

Dr. Marusak specializes in production animal health, welfare, and biosecurity, leveraging her dual expertise in veterinary medicine and inorganic chemistry to develop innovative disease prevention and treatment solutions. Her work focuses on emergency disease management and product formulation for animal welfare, directly supporting commercial agriculture sectors including turkey and egg layer industries.

As leader of the Cross Commodity and Secure Finfish workgroups, she coordinates stakeholder collaborations to establish evidence-based movement permit systems for poultry and aquaculture products during disease emergencies, ensuring food supply chain resilience.
