Rosemary Lee is an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) at Coventry University. She holds an honorary doctorate from Roehampton University and is an honorary Fellow at Trinity Laban. Her practice spans choreography, participatory performance, and film installations, often engaging large cross-generational casts in site-specific works. Notable projects include Under the Vaulted Sky (2014), Liquid Gold is the Air (2015, winner of Light Moves Festival Prize), and Circadian (2019). Lee’s work interrogates community formation, audience engagement, and the interplay between somatic practices and sociopolitical contexts.
Her research interests include somatic practices, participatory methodologies, and the documentation of performance. Lee has presented internationally, including at LIFT 2016 and the First Light Festival. She is affiliated with Artsadmin and Work Place, and her creative outputs blend dance, film, and installation art.
Recent activities include invited talks at the University of Falmouth and participation in CultureMoves LabDay 2018. Her work often explores themes of labor, locality, and the radical potential of artistic practice. Lee’s awards include an OBE (2022) and Bonnie Bird Award (2013).
