Rosemarie Came

Rosemarie Came is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of New Hampshire. Her research focuses on paleoclimatology, particularly the forcings and mechanisms of climate change over geological timescales.

Her laboratory methods include foraminiferal trace and minor element geochemistry and carbonate clumped isotope geochemistry. She emphasizes integrating paleoclimate data with climate models through collaborations with dynamicists and modelers, particularly for studying abrupt climate events and global climate evolution over the last 600 million years.

Rosemarie's publications highlight her work on paleotemperature reconstructions, methane hydrate destabilization, and climate dynamics. Her studies span the Palaeozoic era, Holocene deglaciation, and end-Permian mass extinction, using geochemical proxies to understand past climate systems.

She teaches courses such as ESCI 444A: Hon/Philosophy of EarthScience, ESCI 501: Introduction to Oceanography, ESCI 514: Introduction to Climate, and ESCI 760/860: Paleoceanography.
