Rosanna Morabito serves as Associate Professor of Slavic Studies at the University of Naples 'L'Orientale', where she has taught Serbian and Croatian language and literature since November 2001. She holds appointments in both the Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies and the Department of Human and Social Sciences, contributing to multiple degree programs including Comparative Literatures and Cultures, European and American Languages and Literatures, and Political Science and International Relations. Since 2018, she has been a member of the teaching staff for the international doctorate in Germanic and Slavic Studies, a joint program between Sapienza University of Rome and Charles University of Prague.
Dr. Morabito earned her PhD in Slavic Studies in 1997 with a thesis on the History of Church Slavonic. Prior to her position at the University of Naples 'L'Orientale', she taught Slavic Philology as a contract professor at the University of Cassino for six years. In 2018, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of full professor in the Competition Sector 10/M2 – Slavic Science.
Her research focuses on Serbian and Croatian language and literature, Dalmatian-Dubrovnik literature, history of literary languages of Serbs and Croats, sociolinguistics of the Slavic area, and Church Slavonic studies. Her scholarly work demonstrates deep engagement with philological analysis of texts, translation studies, and comparative literature. Recent publications show her continued exploration of key figures in South Slavic literature including Ivo Andrić, Dositej Obradović, and Antun Gustav Matoš, alongside investigations into medieval religious texts and Baroque historiography.
Dr. Morabito's most recent publications reveal a consistent focus on South Slavic literary traditions, with particular attention to Croatian modernism, Serbian enlightenment literature, and medieval religious writing. Her scholarly output spans book chapters, translations, and editorial work, demonstrating both depth in specialized areas and breadth across Slavic literary traditions. The thematic continuity in her work connects historical linguistic development with literary expression across different Slavic cultural contexts.
