Professor Rosalind Smith is a leading academic in early modern studies at the Australian National University (ANU), serving as Professor of English, Head of Discipline, and Director of the Centre for Early Modern Studies. She holds a DPhil (Oxon) and has extensive leadership roles including Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation, and Directorships in academic centers. Her research focuses on early modern women’s writing, exploring form, politics, and material culture, alongside digital humanities methodologies. She co-founded the Early Modern Women’s Research Network (EMWRN) and leads major projects such as the Palgrave Encyclopaedia of Early Modern Women’s Writing. Key achievements include over $3 million in research funding, including an ARC Future Fellowship (2019-23), and editorial roles for Parergon journal and the Palgrave Encyclopedia. She is engaged in collaborative projects like the Emmerson Collection digitization and humanities mapping initiatives.
