Rosalind A. Segal, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School and a Senior Researcher at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She specializes in pediatric brain tumors and nervous system development. Her work integrates cancer biology, neurobiology, and clinical oncology to understand tumor progression and develop therapeutic strategies.
Dr. Segal earned her PhD from Rockefeller University (1985) and MD from Cornell University Medical College (1986). She completed a residency in Neurology at Harvard and postdoctoral training at MIT, focusing on nerve growth factors and cerebellar development. She joined Dana-Farber in 1998.
Her research emphasizes growth factor signaling pathways in brain tumors and neurodevelopmental disorders. Notable contributions include identifying drug targets in medulloblastoma and discovering mechanisms underlying peripheral neuropathy.
Dr. Segal has received prestigious awards such as the NIH Director’s Pioneer Award (2006) and the Ted Williams Senior Investigator title (2009). Her lab at Dana-Farber explores intercellular communication and translational oncology approaches.
