Rosalie Metro is a teacher-educator and anthropologist of education at the University of Missouri (Mizzou), where she teaches TESOL classes for undergraduate pre-service teachers and supervises social studies student teaching interns. Her work bridges K-12 classroom experiences with academic research on history, identity, and language conflicts in both the United States and Southeast Asia.

Her research focuses on TESOL, education of refugees and immigrants, qualitative research methods, social studies education, and standards-based assessment. She specializes in using primary-source-based curricula to address ethnic conflict and reconciliation, particularly in Myanmar/Burma. Her publications include textbooks on US and world history education, and her work explores intersections between neoliberalism, decolonization, and educational equity.
Her recent scholarship spans topics like language integration in US schools, decolonizing Burma studies, and post-conflict curriculum reform. She has consulted for UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank, and served on advisory boards for educational institutions in Myanmar. She also works as a Burmese language interpreter for Columbia Public Schools and studies the Myanmar refugee diaspora.
