Rosa Peracaula Miro is an Associate Professor at the Biology Department of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Girona, Spain. She co-directs the Biochemistry of Cancer Research Group (GRCT003) and coordinates the SGR Clinical and Biochemistry of Cancer group (ref 2021 SGR 00562) with clinicians from Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta.
- PhD in Chemical Sciences, Universitat Ramon Llull (1995)
- Postdocs: MD Anderson Cancer Center (1997), University of Oxford (2001-02)
- Awarded four research sexenni (1992-2000, 2001-07, 2008-13, 2014-19)
Her research focuses on aberrant glycosylation in cancer, particularly in pancreatic and prostate cancers, where she explores glycoprotein biomarkers like PSA glycoforms and sialyltransferases for improved diagnostics and metastasis understanding. Her work has produced over 49 publications (41 Q1), five patents, and leadership in six competitive R+D projects.
Recent collaborations include: NIBRT (Dublin), Johns Hopkins University, University of Birmingham, and Spanish institutions like IMIM, University of Barcelona, and University of Zaragoza. She participates in European networks EuroGlycoScience and INNOGLY-COST, and co-founded ALIPANC.
