معرفی
Rory Fisher is a Professor of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa, serving as Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of RGS proteins in G protein signaling, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer biology, and cardiovascular development. He holds a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Iowa State University and completed postdoctoral training in Pathology and Biochemistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Texas A&M University
- PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Iowa State University
- Postdoctoral Fellowships at University of Texas Health Science Center (Pathology & Biochemistry)
His research investigates how RGS proteins regulate cellular processes, including their roles in Parkinson’s disease, cancer suppression, and placental dysfunction in preeclampsia. His lab has identified RGS6 as a tumor suppressor and a key mediator of dopamine signaling in addiction and motor control. His work bridges molecular biology, pharmacology, and translational medicine, with implications for therapies targeting neurodegenerative and cardiovascular disorders.
Current projects include studying RGS6’s nuclear functions, its role in alcohol reward pathways, and developing inhibitors for RGS proteins. His lab collaborates with institutions globally and contributes to training programs in pharmacological sciences.
