Roopen Majithia is a Professor and Hart Almerrin Massey Chair in Philosophy at Mount Allison University's Department of Philosophy. He currently serves as Department Head. His work focuses on comparative ethics, ancient Greek philosophy, Indian philosophy, and the intersection of art and emotion. Majithia's research bridges Aristotelian ethics with Hindu texts like the Bhagavad Gita, exploring concepts of virtue, liberation, and moral syncretism.
His research interests include the analysis of eudaimonia across philosophical traditions, the philosophical implications of blues music in emotional catharsis, and the metaphysical concepts of self and soul in ancient thought. He has extensively examined Śaṇkara's Vedanta teachings and the functional aspects of ethical intuition in Aristotelian frameworks.
Publications span 1999 to 2024, with notable works analyzing cross-cultural ethical frameworks and the philosophical foundations of artistic expression. Majithia's academic leadership includes holding the Hart Almerrin Massey Chair, reflecting his contributions to philosophical scholarship.
