Rook Campbell is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Southern California (USC) Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. He specializes in teaching courses related to advertising, sport, globalization, and media, including 'Issues in Contemporary Sport' and 'Global Networks of Sport.' His academic work explores the intersection of sport, culture, politics, and social justice, with a focus on marginalized communities.
Research and practice areas include civic engagement, queer theory in sports, and media representation. Campbell leads the LANEMATE Project, a grassroots initiative promoting inclusivity in swimming for transgender and non-binary individuals, and created That Day I Was the Fastest Boy in the World, a storytelling project fostering empathy through sport narratives. He holds affiliations with the Communication (BA) and Public Diplomacy (MPD) programs at USC.
