Ronny Beckert is an academic staff member at the University of Heidelberg since October 2021, participating in the BMBF project 'Being mobile in international teacher training'. He previously served as an academic assistant at the Romance Department (2011–2017) under Prof. Sybille Große. His affiliation includes the Department of Romance Languages, where he focuses on sociolinguistic research. He coordinates projects, teaches, and advises on ERASMUS exchanges to Portugal.
Education: Master of Arts from Leipzig, Montpellier, and Lisbon universities, with an Abitur from Landesschule Pforta. Research interests include Lusophone language contact, sociolinguistics, and creole studies (especially Kabuverdianu). Key projects involve linguistic strategies among older populations in Rio de Janeiro and diaspora communities in Portugal.
Publications span edited volumes and peer-reviewed articles on creole language policies, education systems in Cape Verde, and migration linguistics. He co-edited Current Language Contacts in the Context of Migration (2016) and contributes to Revista Internacional de Lingüística Iberoamericana.
