Ronnie A. Dunn, PhD, serves as Associate Professor of Urban Studies at Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, where his scholarship critically examines systemic racial inequities across urban contexts.
His research spans race and ethnicity, criminology, policing practices, and racial health disparities, with particular focus on the criminalization of Black male identities, racial profiling dynamics, and healthcare provider cultural competency. This interdisciplinary work bridges sociological theory with practical civil rights applications in law enforcement and medical settings.
Recent publications consistently address racial justice through analyses of citizen-police interactions, media representations of Black men, and structural health inequities. The 2010-2016 articles demonstrate methodological rigor in documenting persistent racial bias while advancing frameworks for institutional accountability and cultural competence.
