Rong Zhao is an Assistant Professor at Hunter College's Silberman School of Social Work, researching labor equity, nonprofit management, and gender/racial dynamics in human services organizations. Her work examines pay disparities, unionization impacts, and government contracting effects on nonprofits.
She holds an M.A. in Nonprofit Management from Beijing Normal University, M.S.W. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. Current projects analyze compensation crises in child welfare agencies and DEI initiative effectiveness.
Publications address racial/gender pay gaps in social work, state mobilization of volunteers in China, and nonprofit unionization strategies. Collaborative studies involve community partners and mixed-methods approaches.
Grants include PSC-CUNY awards for workforce equity research. She teaches organizational behavior, research methods, and social policy analysis.
