Ronald T. Javier, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Molecular Virology & Microbiology, Houston, TX, USA. He is also a member of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. He holds a Ph.D. from UCLA (1987) and a B.S. from UCLA (1982).
His research focuses on adenoviruses and viral oncology, particularly the molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis by the E4-ORF1 oncoprotein. Key areas include E4-ORF1's interactions with PDZ domain proteins (MUPP1, MAGI-1, ZO-2, DLG), its activation of the PI3K signaling pathway, and its role in estrogen-dependent mammary tumors.
Recent articles highlight E4-ORF1's dysregulation of growth factor receptors, membrane recruitment of PDZ proteins, and its role in oncogenesis. His work also explores interactions with influenza NS1 proteins and tumor suppressor mechanisms.
Dr. Javier's research bridges virology and cancer biology, with implications for understanding viral-induced cancers and cellular signaling pathways.
