Prof. Ronald Stolk is a Professor in the Department of Life Course Epidemiology (LCE) at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). His work focuses on epidemiological research in diabetes, genetic variants, and long-term disease comorbidity. He actively contributes to biobanking ethics, data privacy, and societal impacts of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.
Stolk leads the Lifelines Biobank project, a longitudinal cohort study, and has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles. He co-organizes events on data autonomy and privacy, such as CPDP 2023 and 'Towards more Data Autonomy.' His research bridges medical epidemiology with interdisciplinary topics like AI governance and healthcare decision-making.
He has supervised 26 academic works and collaborates internationally on projects addressing diabetes genetics, multimorbidity, and vitamin D’s role in health. His contributions to public discourse include expert commentary on digital transformation in academia and open-source social media initiatives in education.
