Eva Corpeleijn is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher at the Department of Epidemiology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen (UMCG). She leads the research unit 'Lifestyle Medicine in Obesity and Diabetes' and specializes in nutritional epidemiology and medical physiology, with a focus on the role of nutrition in chronic disease prevention and management.
Her research interests span Nutrition Epidemiology, Lifestyle Medicine, Physical Activity, and Obesity research. She investigates how healthy diets can impact the onset, treatment, remission, and comorbidities of chronic diseases across different population groups. Her work particularly focuses on vulnerable populations including those with chronic illnesses, children, and elderly individuals. She has developed diet scores such as the Lifelines Diet Score (LLDS) and Ultra-processed Food Score to assess diet quality and sustainability.
Dr. Corpeleijn's publication record shows a strong focus on lifestyle interventions, multimorbidity patterns, and diet-disease relationships. Her recent work examines kidney transplant recipients, chronic disease multimorbidity in aging populations, and the health impacts of ultra-processed foods. She frequently utilizes the Lifelines cohort database for large-scale population studies.
