Stanford Universityمعرفی
Dr. Ronald L. Dalman is a Professor in the Department of Surgery - Vascular Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he holds the Walter C. Chidester Professorship. He has served as faculty since 1992 and directed Stanford's Vascular Surgery program from 2005-2021. Currently, he acts as Co-Director for the Cardiovascular Service Line at Stanford Health Care and a Steering Committee member of the Cardiovascular Institute.
His research laboratory investigates abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) pathophysiology, focusing on molecular mechanisms and novel treatments including drug/device combinations. His work has received continuous NIH funding since 1999 and includes collaborations on over 50 clinical trials. Key research areas include:
- Biologic and mechanical basis of AAA degeneration
- Metformin and telmisartan efficacy in AAA suppression
- Computational modeling of hemodynamic risks
- Diabetes-vessel interaction mechanisms
- Frailty assessment in vascular surgery outcomes
- Global vascular guideline validation
Dr. Dalman's scientific awards include the E. J. Wylie Travelling Fellowship, G. B. Ong Distinguished Lecturer recognition, and leadership roles as President of the Society for Vascular Surgery (2020-2021) and Western Vascular Society (2010-2011). He has led multiple NIH study sections and professional organizations.
His clinical focus spans vascular surgery, aortic aneurysm management, limb salvage, and carotid artery diseases. He has mentored Med Scholar project students and contributed to vascular education through courses like Directed Reading in Surgery and Graduate Research.
