Ronald Goettler is the James N. Doyle, Sr. Professor of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Economics, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester. Prior to joining Simon in 2012, he was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on quantitative marketing, industrial organization, and finance, emphasizing structural econometric methods to analyze consumer and firm behavior, particularly in high-tech industries. Key themes include competition dynamics, innovation strategies, and new product marketing.
His work has been published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Political Economy, RAND Journal of Economics, and Journal of Marketing Research. Notable awards include the New York Stock Exchange Award for best paper on equity trading (2004) and a nomination for the Smith-Breeden Prize in the Journal of Finance. His research explores topics like oligopoly competition, dynamic market equilibria, and risk management in industries like finance and motion pictures.
Goettler teaches courses in Economics, Marketing, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. His contributions span theoretical frameworks and empirical analyses, addressing real-world challenges in technology, healthcare, and entertainment sectors.
