Ronald Filler is a Visiting Professor of Practice at the University of San Francisco School of Law, specializing in financial services law. He has over 45 years of experience teaching law courses on financial services at multiple U.S. law schools, including New York Law School and Chicago Kent College of Law. Currently, he serves as a Public Director on the Board of Directors of the National Futures Association and chairs the Ronald H. Filler Institute on Financial Services Law at New York Law School. His expertise spans derivatives markets, securities law, brokerage firms, investment advisers, and cryptocurrencies.
Education includes a BA in Political Science from the University of Illinois (1970), JD from George Washington University School of Law (1973), and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University College of Law (1975).
His research focuses on derivatives law, securities law, and financial services regulation. Recent publications analyze legal precedents impacting SEC enforcement, whistleblower protections, and regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies and derivatives. He has authored a seminal treatise on financial derivatives regulation and filed amicus briefs in high-profile cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal circuits.
In 2022, he was inducted into the FIA Hall of Fame. His professional roles include board memberships at ABAXX Clearing and advisory positions across the financial industry. His lectures have been presented at over 300 conferences globally.
