Ronald Dyer is a Teaching Professor and Senior University Teacher in Project Management at the Sheffield University Management School (SUMS), part of The University of Sheffield. He serves as Academic Lead for Digital Innovation, focusing on AI, analytics, and VR integration into the school’s curriculum. With over two decades of experience in project management across finance, education, agriculture, and energy sectors, his work includes IT integration projects at Goldman Sachs, Citi-Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Education: Dyer holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Grenoble Ecole de Management (France), an MBA in Project Management from Henley Business School (UK), and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada).
Research interests center on leveraging game-based learning, data visualization, and AI to enhance decision-making and problem-solving in organizations. His theoretical framework incorporates ludus and paidia play theories to improve human performance through gamification, addressing areas like project performance, risk maturity, ICT readiness, and technology adoption in education. Recent work explores AI’s role in e-learning and vertical farming risk assessment.
Teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking and multidimensional analysis, using technology to support autonomous learning while prioritizing conceptual-to-procedural knowledge translation. He supervises PhD candidates in enterprise risk management, AI-driven decision-making, and gamification applications in strategic contexts.
Labs/Initiatives: Leads SUMS’ digital innovation initiatives, focusing on AI integration and tech-enhanced learning environments.
