Ronald Borra is a researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen, specializing in advanced imaging methodologies through the BRIDGE (Basic and Translational Research and Imaging Methodology Development in Groningen) group. His work integrates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and Computed Tomography (CT) to study tissue mechanics, brain tumors, and cardiovascular function.
Recent publications highlight his focus on MRI elastography for spinal and cardiac tissue analysis, diffusion-weighted imaging in glioma patients, and molecular imaging using [15O]H2O PET. Collaborative projects include automated quantification of brain volumes post-subarachnoid hemorrhage and the clinical application of multifrequency cardiac MRE.
He contributed to the implementation of a Whole-Body PET/CT scanner at the UMCG in 2021, emphasizing technological advancements in diagnostic imaging. Research outputs demonstrate interdisciplinary applications spanning neurology, cardiology, and oncology, aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals for healthcare innovation.
