Ron Watson is an Associate Professor of Health & Society and Political Science at Beloit College, concurrently serving as Associate Provost and Dean of Students. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of New Mexico, an M.A. in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and a B.A. in Religious Studies/Japanese Studies from the College of William & Mary.
His research focuses on health systems, health policy, public policy, public health, racial and ethnic politics, and health disparities. He emphasizes real-world solutions and critical thinking in courses like Comparative Health Systems and U.S. Federal Government and Politics.
Watson’s articles explore topics ranging from voting initiatives (e.g., the Why Bother Wisconsin? campaign) to healthcare frontline experiences. His work bridges academic research with community advocacy, exemplified by his roles on the Beloit Police and Fire Commission and as a faculty advisor for the Beloit Public Health Initiative.
