Ron M.A. Heeren

Prof. Ron M.A. Heeren is a Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM-IAS) and holds a Distinguished Professorship and Limburg Chair at Maastricht University, leading the Imaging Mass Spectrometry division at the Maastricht MultiModal Molecular Imaging (M4I) Institute. With a PhD in Technical Physics from the University of Amsterdam (1992), he has pioneered advancements in mass spectrometry imaging, translational research, and clinical applications. His work focuses on molecular profiling of health and disease, particularly in oncology, immunology, and tissue regeneration. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications with an H-index of 57 (Google Scholar).

His research integrates interdisciplinary approaches to develop novel mass spectrometry techniques for biomedical applications. Key contributions include spatial systems lipidomics, real-time tissue analysis during surgery, and unraveling immune-metabolism interactions.
