Dr. Ron Levy is an Associate Professor in the Division of Neurosurgery at Queen's University's School of Medicine. He holds cross-appointments with the Centre for Neuroscience Studies and serves as a Clinician-Researcher at Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital. His clinical expertise includes neurosurgery, neuromodulation techniques for movement disorders, epilepsy, and pain management, with a focus on deep brain stimulation and spinal cord stimulation.
Dr. Levy's education includes a PhD in Neurosciences from the University of Toronto (2001), an MD from Queen's University (2005), and neurosurgery residency training (2011) and a functional neurosurgery fellowship (2012) from Toronto Western Hospital and Calgary Health Region. His research focuses on electrophysiological changes in Parkinson's and epilepsy, using intracranial recordings of neural activity to develop novel stimulation therapies.
His research interests span neurophysiology, neurocognitive patterns, neurological disorders, and basic medical sciences. Notable work includes studies on neural network dynamics under anesthesia, sensory-motor integration in the brain, and robotics-based clinical tools for Parkinson’s disease assessment.
Dr. Levy's affiliations include the Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Queen's University's Centre for Neuroscience. He actively contributes to surgical education through augmented reality training platforms and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance neuromodulation therapies.
