Ron Krabill is a Professor at the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, University of Washington Bothell. His work focuses on transnational mediascapes, media’s role in human rights, and community-building through cultural practices, particularly in diasporic African communities in Seattle.

His research spans media’s impact on political life, including South Africa’s post-apartheid media landscapes and contemporary global partnerships in international education. He co-directs the UWB Global Scholars program and explores soccer’s role in diasporic community formation.
Recent publications include analyses of media iconography in Starring Mandela & Cosby (2010), critiques of study abroad models in Against the Romance of Study Abroad (2017), and collaborative projects on Seattle’s African diaspora soccer leagues in The Seattle Afrikan Premier League (2018). His work emphasizes praxis, reciprocity, and interdisciplinary frameworks.
